Increase Investment Returns – Not New Taxes

That’s the slogan of current Teton County legislator Leland Christensen as he begins his run for Wyoming State Treasurer.

Christensen, who previously served as a Teton County Commissioner and ran for Congress, told the Jackson Hole News and Guide that the state’s current budget deficit could be bridged by getting better returns on the state’s $20 billion investment portfolio.

While he originally considered running for Secretary of State, Christensen announced for State Treasurer in support of Mead’s appointment of Buchanan to fill the Secretary of State opening left by the resignation of Ed Murray.

As State Treasurer, Christensen said he would, “help fight the threat of higher taxation.”
